#BIPOCFilmMatters
Last summer, we made the commitment to
“Begin discussions to increase the presence of BIPOC films and filmmakers by reshaping the 2021 festival and beyond”
as stated in our Black Lives Matter Task Force Commitments, and we have put our best foot forward in making substantial progress in further increasing the diversity within our festival. We want Trinity Film Festival to truly reflect the values our team stands for and its status as an international film festival.
We acknowledge the substantial systemic barriers and hurdles that BIPOC artists face when navigating our industry and we want to be part of the solution.
This is why we decided to create a new award for 2021 that is specifically dedicated to celebrate works of Black, Indigenous filmmakers and filmmakers of color: the BIPOC Excellence in Film Award.
We know this is merely a small step toward achieving the equal and just world we aspire to live in but we hope that this initiative pushes a little closer to it.
